Audi is on publicity frenzy with its A1. A recent video of the A1 reveals that the premium subcompact will be offering a Wasabi Green interior.
As stated by color and trim designer for Audi Jana Bonkava, “A completely new car is always an exciting challenge for designers. Naturally, we looked for innovative solutions when it came to materials and colors as well.” She added, “Having a wide range of possibilities for individual designs was the most important thing for us, and our objective was to combine the various materials with fresh colors. That’s how we came up with Wasabi Green - after drawing inspiration from trends in architecture, fashion, and the furniture industry.”
Although it does sound like an odd color choice for the interior, Audi promises Wasabi Green will be “used selectively” for accent pieces to prevent it from being overpowering and distasteful.
The Audi A1 will be officially debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The proposed initial 80,000 units of the car will go on sale later this year.
