
Italian design firms Alfa Romeo and Pininfarina team up for a new concept car which evokes the “Duetto” Spider of the 1960s. This new concept car, the 2uettottanta, also previews the next-gen Spider.
After its 2006 debut, the current Spider has not fared well when it comes to the brand’s critical enthusiasts. It has indeed been styled with class but, when it comes to performance, both the BMW Z4 and Mercedes-Benz SLK outruns it. The current Spider is based on Alfa Romeo’s front-wheel-drive platform.
With the 2uettottanta, Alfa Romeo hasn’t exactly revealed many details about its powertrain configuration. But according to the automaker, it uses a small displacement 1.75-liter four-cylinder—an obvious upgrade…
