Italian design firms Alfa Romeo and Pininfarina team up for a new concept car which evokes the “Duetto” Spider of the 1960s. This new concept car, the 2uettottanta, also previews the next-gen Spider.

After its 2006 debut, the current Spider has not fared well when it comes to the brand’s critical enthusiasts. It has indeed been styled with class but, when it comes to performance, both the BMW Z4 and Mercedes-Benz SLK outruns it. The current Spider is based on Alfa Romeo’s front-wheel-drive platform.

New photos of the Bertone-designed Alfa Romeo Pandion surfaces on the web after the car’s initial teaser sketch was released last week.

The Osprey-class Pandion is one of three design proposals being submitted during the Geneva Motor Show as a potential replacement for the Alfa 159. The concept, also developed to celebrate the 100th year anniversary of Alfa, looks like a cross between the Saab Aero X and the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept. Despite this, the four-seat  Pandion sports a bold front end, extensive glasswork and an insane rear diffuser.

Alfa Romeo has just announced its UK price list for the MiTo MultiAir.

The 1.4-liter MultiAir engine will produce 135 bhp in the Lusso (£15,165) and Veloce (£16,135), while the performance-oriented Cloverleaf (£17,895) will boast 170 bhp. Although the company declined to divulge any information on the performance data for the 135 bhp engine, they have stated that it will consume 5.6 L/100km (in the combined cycle) and produce 129 g/km of CO2. Similarly, the Cloverleaf will accelerate from 0-62 mph in about 7 seconds while emitting 139 g/km of CO2 and consuming 4.8 L/100km (in the extra urban cycle).

Alfa Romeo has paired up with Italy Independent to put together a special edition Alfa Romeo Brera model. The collaboration is inspired by the world of fashion, already stars in the Xbox 360 game Forza Motorsport 3.

Buyers can either specify the 2.2 JTS or the 3.2 V6 with 138kW (185bhp) and 194kW (260bhp) respectively. Drive selectors will either be a 6-speed manual or the Selespeed automatic Q-Tronic.

There will only be 900 units of the Alfa Romeo Brera Italy Independent Special Edition built. Each will have the Italy Independent touch of innovation with the use of materials like linen, cashmere Loro Piana ol’acetato cellulose, carbon fiber and Kevlar.

The 2010 Geneva Motor Show will see the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta. The new sports-shaped hatch features the latest in engineering, technology and safety systems that Alfa can offer.

The new Alfa Romeo Giulietta Milano will be available with four engines. The 1.4 TB is the little one with 88kW (120 horsepower), followed by the 1.4TB MultiAir making 125kW (170 horsepower). The other two are diesel-powered: a 1.6 JTDM with 77kW (105 horsepower) and a more powerful 2.0 JTDM which produces 125kW (170 horsepower). An exclusive 173kW (235 horsepower) petrol Quadrifoglio Verde model will also be available later on.

Currently Alfa Romeo has revealed the Quadrifoglio Verde, the hottest version of its MiTo hatchback.

The Quadrifoglio Verde has a 1.4 liter MultiAir TBi four-cylinder engine that can serve up 170 horsepower. The 1.4 liter engine is also quite clean for such a sporty car. The engine only emits 139 g/km of CO2 and averages an impressive 49 mpg.

The car also has a new six-speed manual gearbox designed by FPT and built in Verrone, Italy. According to Alfa Romeo the new gearbox will provide faster gear changes and offer a more precise feel.

Breaking news from the auto-industry: Alfa Romeo will produce a limited edition 8C GTA.

Similar to the 1965 Giulia Sprint GTA, the 8C GTA will feature modish styling and additional performance. The exceptional exterior includes hood vents, carbon fiber bodywork, and an “ice-white” front bumper with larger air intakes.

As regards to this important factor which is the performance, Alfa Romeo will affix a new ECU module, lower-friction engine components and a revised rev limiter. This would enable the 4.7-liter V8 engine to produce over 500bhp (the standard 8C produces 450bhp). Other fine-tunings include a 150kg reduction in weight, a sportier suspension, and a modified exhaust system with three tailpipes.
