The racing division of auto brand Chevrolet has officially introduced its newest Corvette C6.R. The racecar, which has been sponsored by Compuware, will be piloted by Johnny O’Connell, Jan Magnussen, and Antonio Garcia, to campaign in the 2010 American Le Mans Series.

The Coevette C6.R is set to compete in the GT class against Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Jaguar and Ford. The Corvette C6.R will make its racing debut on March 20 at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The Sebring event is the first of the 2010 ALMS season.

Chevrolet has thoroughly revised its latest Silverado HD to be able to compete against freshly revised competition from Ford and Dodge. The new Silverado Heavy Duty becomes more powerful with a 6.6 liter Duramax diesel.

The Silverado HD will still come standard with a mildly modified 6.0-liter V8 hooked up to the automaker’s 6L90 six-speed automatic. A new camshaft profile increases low-end torque for better off-the-line performance and better high-altitude trailering.

Chevrolet will be launching the OnStar Mobile Application at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The would-be owners of the new Chevrolet Volt will be the first to experience the said SmartPhone application.

The application will enable the users to schedule charging times on their car, turn on the climate control system, remotely start the car, and receiving real-time data from the car. The 2012 Chevrolet Orlando has been spotted doing some road test recently. The Orlando, which was launched as a concept at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, also made a surprise appearance at the 2009 Detroit Show. The Orlando is reported to replace the HHR in Chevrolet’s lineup.

General Motors has just recently announced that it will spend around $230 million on four of their plants in the Flint, Michigan area. The money will be spent to support the production of Chevrolet’s Volt plug-in vehicle and the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, a platform mate of the Volt.

GeigerCars has revealed their new performance package for the Chevrolet Camaro SS. The German tuner equipped the 6.2-liter V8 engine with a refined supercharger which now makes it possible to produce 568 hp and 799 Nm of torque.
