General Motors is set to unveil a new concept set at the upcoming Geneva Motor show which starts on March 2. And to start the hype about their new concept, the car maker released a teaser for the Opel Vauxhall Flexitreme GTE Concept.

Although nothing much can be said of the new car, the possibility of it being an alternatively-powered vehicle is very high, construing this is the “Voltec” which sticks out from the bumper. Apparently, Voltec is the GM’s electric powertrain used by the Opel/Vauxhall Ampera, also known as the Chevy Volt.

The North American version of the next generation Chevrolet Spark has been launched at the NA International Auto Show in Detroit. The five-door hatchback Spark will be placed below the amended Aveo as a 2011 model.

The Spark takes on much of the Chevrolet Beat concept car’s styling but also adds on its own character with enlarged headlights, added door handles, less extreme surface development and exotic production wheels.

General Motors has currently unveiled a new, rear-wheel drive police cruiser at the International Association of Chiefs of Police meeting in Denver, Colorado. The car is largely based on the Australian-market Holden Commodore. The police car will be sold in 2009 as the Pontiac G8 in the United States and Canada.

We have earlier reported that General Motors and Penske are working out a deal for the buy out of the Saturn brand from GM. According to current reports the deal has been terminated by Penske, after not being able to find a carmaker that can supply vehicles for the brand.

The termination of the contract has put the future of the Saturn brand in uncertainty. The purchase of the Penske would have saved Saturn from certain death, but since the termination, it looks like Saturn will follow Pontiac in to car heaven.

General Motors has officially confirmed that they will be stopping their experimental eBay sales program. The program was launched in California last August 11 with hopes that it will boost sales for the American car maker. The program was extended until the end of September, but GM announced that it will not renew its partnership with eBay after the end of the month.

According to GM spokesman John McDonald, GM no longer needs the eBay initiative as it has recently launched two other national campaigns – its “May the best car win” campaign and its 60-day money back guarantee.

The Holden Commodore was sold to the US market as the Pontiac G8 for a while before Pontiac’s demise this summer. GM has denied that it will sell a rebranded Commodore as a Chevrolet to the US market, but the car-maker may have found a new set of customers: American police departments.

In an interview in Australia, GM CEO Fritz Henderson has confirmed rumors about a possible Commodore police cruiser for America. To help boost consumer confidence, General Motors will launch a 60-day, money-back guarantee on all Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC models beginning next week. The promotion will be part of the ad campaign that features GM chairman Edward Witacre.

The 60 day money back guarantee will start on Monday and will run through November. The ad campaign dubbed “Satisfaction Guaranteed” is the first of its kind to be put into action by a major player in the automotive industry.
