Hyundai Outs Elantra Nav Package And Other Mid-2010 Updates

Hyundai’s mid-2010 Elantra model will get a minor update, highlighted by a new in-dash touchscreen navigation system. Hyundai says the Elantra GLS Navigation Package is the “least expensive full-screen navigation-equipped vehicle among comparable models.”

For only $18,715—including destination—the Hyundai Elantra GLS with Navigation Package undercuts a similarly equipped Toyota Corolla by $685. It also beats the Honda Civic and Mazda3 by about $4,200 and is incredibly $5475 cheaper than the Volkswagen Jetta.

But despite of the Elantra’s low cost, its navigations system is packed with technology. The LG designed system features a 6.5 inch touch screen interface, Bluetooth connectivity, iPod and USB inputs and XM Satellite radio.

Hyundai has just released its pricing list for its 2011 Sonata. The newest sedan from Hyundai will start at $19,195 for its entry-level GLS with a manual transmission. The suggested retail price will then climb through the models before topping out at $17,395 for the Limited with the optional navigation package.

Hyundai will offer the Sonata in three trim levels. First for an additional $750 to the base price, the GLS automatic can be optioned with the Popular Equipment Package which has the 16-inch alloy wheels, a power driver’s seat with adjustable lumbar, upgraded interior trim and automatic head lamps. Hyundai waited for the North American International Auto Show to announce a secret: under the hood of the next-generation Hyundai Santa Fe is a new four and six-cylinder engines. Okay, so it may not have been a secret after all since Hyundai has already been selling the model in the US for quite some time now.

Hyundai announced that its Blue-Will concept will be making its North America debut at the Auto Show in Detroit next week. Blue-Will already made its world debut at the Seoul Motor Show last April.

The Hyundai Blue-Will is the first plug-in electric vehicle for the automaker. It will be using the same Hybrid Blue Drive technology that Hyundai introduced at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show.

After its Los Angeles Auto Show debut, the 2010 Hyundai Tucson’s pricing has been revealed. Keeping their promise of a starting price of under $20,000, the Hyundai Tucson will be available for a base price of $18,995. However, for a fully loaded Limited all-wheel drive model the price tops at $28,695, destination not yet included.

Just as the Sonata, the Tucson will be powered by a 2.4 Liter four-cylinder Theta engine that puts out 176 horsepower. Hyundai is ready to release of its 2.4 Liter Theta II GDI engine, its first Gasoline Direct Injection engine. And it will be featured in the 2011 Hyundai Sonata model.

The 2.4 Liter Theta II GDI direct-injection engine is able to produce 201 horsepower at 6300 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 4250 rpm. The engine will feature dual continuously variable valve timing and variable induction system technology that will improve power and fuel economy figures.

According to Dr. Lee Hyun-Soon, Vice Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of Hyundai, the Theta II GDI “convincingly demonstrates Hyundai’s advanced powertrain engineering capabilities.”

Hyundai’s “Hyundai Assurance Program” has been such a great success, that the Korean car maker is thinking of extending the program. The Hyundai Assurance Program, allows customers to return the car if they suddenly lose their job or income. The program has been so successful that American giants General Motors and Ford launched variations of their own.

Hyundai North America CEO John Krafcik said in an interview that the management of Hyundai is seriously thinking of extending the Assurance Program. . The program is set to run through the remainder of the year, but Krafcik added: “We’re thinking now about how much further we should take it.”

With the current trend of fuel prices and the clamor for more eco-friendly cars, Hyundai has tweaked its popular Elantra Sedan to give out an extra 2 mpg on the highway for the new Elantra Blue trim package.

The Elantra Blue package is priced at $14,145 and will only be available with a five speed manual transmission. The Elantra is the cheapest of all the cars in its range, but it is not yet capable of beating the Chevrolet Cobalt XFE’s class-leading 37 mpg rating despite its modifications.

Hyundai is one of the fastest rising carmaker that ever came out of Korea, at they have also set shop at the latest Frankfurt Motor Show. One of the cars that Hyundai will present in the show is its newest ix-Metro concept.

The ix-Metro crossover is a concept car aimed at the European market. The car has a small displacement gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain, the tall wagon also shows off a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Hyundai will be exhibiting a new concept car aimed at the European market. It is called the Hyundai ix-Metro. The ix-Metro will debut this month in the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. Featuring a small displacement gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain, the tall wagon also shows off a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The ix-Metro will come in a 1.0 -liter three-cylinder engine with direct injection, variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust cams and a turbocharger that will help the 124 horsepower engine. Hyundai also claims that the powertrain will only emit 80 g/km of CO2.

Hyundai Tucson ix was officially unveiled in Korea. With this start, the auto-maker is aiming to set the trend for the segment and regain sales leadership in the small SUV market.
