Porsche to Remove Boxster Contract from Magna

With Magna’s possible acquisition of General Motors Opel brand, the Canadian supplier will now have a point of entry in the OEM automobile manufacturing industry. However, the acquisition of Opel could also spell some manufacturing contracts being lost by Magna.

Autoweek has reported that Porsche is mulling over the idea of pulling out of its contract with Magna to produce the new Boxster and Cayman. That is if the Magna group successfully buys Opel from General Motors. Magna currently produces the Boxster and Cayman for Porsche, but that relationship could end in 2013 when new versions of both vehicles are slated to debut.
