Mitsubishi took advantage its being at the LA Auto Show on Wednesday to announce its plan of bringing the Colt supermini to North America.

The Colt, which will arrive at US dealers sometime in 2010, was recently redesigned. But any dramatic changes won’t be necessary unlike the current European model. One thing that is uncertain is if the Colt that will be available in the US will be 3-door or 5-door models, or if both will be available.

The European Colt comes with a standard 1.5 Liter MIVEC four-cylinder engine that produces 104 horsepower and 104 pound feet of torque. The US-bound Colt’s engine might have some changes to accommodate the consumers’…

The i is powered by a turbocharged 660cc engine, but will likely be upgraded to a 1.0 Liter three-cylinder for the US market. The ForTwo uses the same engine, and is the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid vehicle in America.

The European i sells for the equivalent of $16, 000, but…

The electric toy car iMiEV is experiencing high demand that its manufacturers are not sure if they can meet such demand even with an increased production rate. Mitsubishi is set to pack up 50 of these mini cars to the United Kingdom by November and another 150 units by 2010’s first half. The iMiEV is a pretty car with a reasonable cost of $30,000 in Japan and perhaps $37,000 in the UK.

Demand and supply problems are expected to grow more as Mitsubishi starts supplying as many as 10,000 iMiEV’s to French automaker PSA/Peugeot-Citroen on an original equipment manufacturer basis by 2011. With this demand iMiEV could indeed be the next mass…

The pint-sized Mitsubishi i MiEV Sport Air concept is no toy although most of the moneyed bunch will probably treat it as one. Japanese buyers will get first take on the I MiEV next year followed by Europeans the year after and hopefully the Americans.

The Mitsubishi i MiEV Sport Air concept was first seen during the Los Angeles Auto Show.  The electric vehicle actually came face to face with competition during the Auto Show including Chrysler’s three electric prototypes and the BMW’s battery-powered Mini-E. As affirmed by Nissan’s Carlos Ghosn, the future belongs to corded cars.

True enough, electric vehicles are starting to capture the mainstream market and the Mitsubishi i MiEV…

We’re taking a look at the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer, which we’ve heard is one of the most inexpensive sedans in the U.S. market. The Lancer is not an economy car; instead it’s a compact car, but we’re not sure what the difference is. Mitsubishi insists that instead of skimping on the quality of the parts, they’re simply selected for affordability. Time has yet to tell whether their quality is compromised in the process.

Inside, the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer is pushing a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that can get up to 152 horsepower. The five-speed manual transmission is renowned for its precision, and there’s a CVT automatic transmission option that simulates six…
