Italian organization I.DE.A. Institute has created a new design study for the Geneva Motor Show.  Named as “Sofia” the four-door sedan is a development on the no-door Era concept convertible unveiled at the same show last year.

This concept car is symbolic of I.DE.A Institute’s continued drive to renew the company, which began in 2007. The styling by the new Design Center and the workmanship of the model makers and show car builders has together created this new “all-Italian” model.

The Sofia features an hourglass shape when viewed from above, with heavy sculpting at the front and back. “Sofia is a concentration of sportiness and elegance,” according to a press release. The…

Italdesign Giugiaro has teamed up with Malaysian firm Proton to create a line of environmentally friendly cars, including the Proton Hybrid Concept.

The five-door concept will debut along with Italdesign Giugiaro’s highly-anticipated concept for the Alfa Romeo 159. The Proton Hybrid has four seats and a high roof to increase cabin space.  This also made it easier for designers to raise the seats up, meaning passengers can get in and out without difficulty.

“This is the outcome of several years of study: the solution allows interior spaciousness on a par with that of a segment D saloon despite maintaining the exterior dimensions of a segment A car,” said Italdesign Giugiaro boss Giorgetto…

Tesla is currently selling around one hundred units per month and just recently went past the milestone of producing their 1000th Roadster last January 12, 2010. Despite moving fewer vehicles per annum as a brand than some competitors’ major dealerships move in a month, Tesla has announced that they are planning on producing 200,000 units per year because of a new sedan due on 2015.

Although Tesla still has not yet started production of its first sedan, the Model S sedan, it is already making clever claims that it plans to produce a BMW-3 series sized sedan by 2015. The sedan is said to boost Tesla’s annual volume to around 200,000…

Earlier this year, the Transition Roadable Aircraft made its maiden flight. Now, the road-registered flying car’s maker, Terrafugia, is announcing that the road and air worthy vehicle will be available to the buying public by 2011.

The selling features of the Transition Roadable Aircraft are found in the fact that it can actually drive on normal roads, and fit inside a traditional parking spot or garage just like a normal car. Impressively, the transformation which folds the wings either in or out takes place in less than 30 seconds – roughly the same time as many convertibles on the road today.

Terrafugia also says that the TRA is capable of flying at…

The Rossion Q1-1000 supercar touches the Ferrari land to shoot a promotional video that will showcase the vehicle’s abilities and announce its European distribution by Hybrid UKGARAGE of Bergamo.

The Noble M400-based Q1 is assembled by 1g Racing and Rossion Automotive, who acquired the production rights from Noble Automotive in 2007. It may be noticed that the Q1 is less splashy than the M400 as it only made do with the massive rear spoiler for the exterior styling.

The Q1 is equipped with a 450-horsepower 3.5 liter biturbo V6 that can accelerate the supercar from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds before reaching 100 mph in 7.7 seconds. The engine…

This is the second car among the ten limited editions that has been sold. And like the first buyer, the Dubai-based bid winner was not named. It is reported however that Jay Leno may be vying for one of the Berton Mantides.

The Mantide features a supercharged 6.2 Liter V8 engine that produces 638 horsepower and 604 pound feet of torque. And with a weight…

Sen. John McCain made buzz on his speech at a NASCAR event at Phoenix International Raceway. The senator was quoted saying “It was all about the unions. The unions didn’t want to have their very generous contracts renegotiated so we put $80 billion into both General Motors and Chrysler, and anybody believes that Chrysler is going to survive, I’d like to meet them.”

“No, I don’t think we ever should have bailed out Chrysler and General Motors,” Sen. McCain said. “We should have let them go into bankruptcy, emerge and become viable corporations again.”

After declaring bankruptcy earlier this year, Chrysler has been given nearly $15 billion in federal aid. Though it…
