BMW chairman Dr.Norbert Reithofer announced that a version of the MINI Coupe Concept will be going onto production at MINI’s Oxford plant. Reithofer has also added that a second yet to be revealed MINI will be also going from concept to production.
Reithofer did not specify the second MINI for production, but he did say it will appear at the Frankfurt Motor Show with the Coupe concept. It was earlier leaked that a new MINI roadster will make its appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show. So expect the announcement that the roadster will also be coming into production in a couple of days.
There was no specific date given when the production versions of the new model will be released. However an inside source has revealed that the new MINI models would make production for the 2011 model year. If that is true you will see that Coupe and the Roadster in your neared MINI showroom by late 2010.
The MINI concepts will be based on the John Cooper Works, but we fully expect the production versions to available in at base and S versions.
