Hofele Design’s 2010 Audi A8

Hofele, a German-based tuning company, has just released new details about their new kit of modifications for the Audi A8. The kit’s release coincides with Audi’s launch of the new version of their flagship four-door.

The Hofele version of the Audi A8 is said to have faster acceleration times of 5.2- and 5.3-seconds to 100 km/h depending on petrol or diesel engine.  The petrol 4.2-liter FSI V8 has been boosted up to 400 PS (294 kW / 395 bhp) and up to 475 Nm (350 lb-ft) of torque. The AMG division of Mercedes-Benz has just unveiled its new 5.5 L biturbo V8 engine. The new engine will be marking the end of large displacement engines at the Mercedes tuning shop. It will debut later this year and will eventually be offered throughout most of AMG’s lineup.

The new 5.5 L biturbo V8 is also part of Mercedes’ “AMG Performance 2015” strategy. As such, the new 5.5L biturbo V8 will make its market debut in the 2011 S63 AMG later this year. GM may be shutting down the Hummer brand for lack of a buyer. But with German tuner CFC’s new kit for the H2, that problem might be solved. Or maybe not?

The Weilheim-based CarFilmComponents (CFC) is offering a tuned-out version of the Hummer H2, done over in a not-so-subtle “burning chrome” lamination. Yes, the car is actually coated with an adhesive film.

The bonnet on the other hand is covered in a black carbon film while the side and rear windows are draped with CutLine ThermoTec, one of the many registered trademark materials from CFC, that make them look an awful lot like conventional tinted windows.

French automaker Citroen and UK’s market-leading quality men’s monthly GQ paired up to come up with a new plug-in hybrid, the GQbyCitroen. The GQbyCitroen was built with the goal of being streamlined but without being overly aggressive.

“Where this car works so well with GQ is that it fits with the current attitudes of conspicuous consumption,” said Citroen designer Mark Lloyd in a press release. “It is understated rather than in-your-face and sleek rather than too macho.”

RUF has just revealed the next-generation RGT, the RGT-8.

The RUF RGT-8, which is based on the current Porsche 997, is powered by a completely new RUF designed V8 engine with a 180° crankshaft called the “Flatcrank”. It also features four valves arranged spherically together with multipoint fuel injection which ensures optimal mixture conditions while the dry-sump system supplies the necessary lubrication. Its V8 engine boasts a 4.5 liter capacity and power of 404 kW (542 horsepower/ 549 PS) and 500 Nm (397 lb-ft) of torque.

Italian organization I.DE.A. Institute has created a new design study for the Geneva Motor Show.  Named as “Sofia” the four-door sedan is a development on the no-door Era concept convertible unveiled at the same show last year.

This concept car is symbolic of I.DE.A Institute’s continued drive to renew the company, which began in 2007. The styling by the new Design Center and the workmanship of the model makers and show car builders has together created this new “all-Italian” model.

Wiesmann has finally announced the pricing details of their newest hypercar, the GT MF4-S.

The Wiesmann GT MF4-S will go on sale with a €133,800 price tag, excluding tax and labor costs.  At that price, the powerful and ultra-exclusive vehicle will come with the BMW M3’s 4.0-liter V8 engine which is capable of producing 420 PS (309 kW / 414 horsepower) and up to 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque.  The same engine that pushes the M3 to a hundred kilometers per hour in just under 5.0 seconds gets the GT MF4-S to the mark in 4.0seconds flat.

Aston Martin has just debuted two special editions and their new customization program at the Geneva Auto Show.

First up is the V12 Vantage Carbon Black Edition. The vehicle features unique metallic paint which requires 50 man-hours of hand painting to apply, carbon fiber side strakes, and black diamond turned alloy wheels. Mercedes-Benz’s Geländewagen might not be the newest design on the market – its basic structure and style dates back to 1979 – but that’s not stopping the German automaker from installing a state-of-the-art BlueTEC diesel powertrain under its boxy hood.

The new V6 diesel engine cranks out 210 horsepower and 398 lb-ft. of torque, but the best news is the nearly 20 mpg combined fuel economy figure, according to Mercedes-Benz. Given the G350’s boxy shape and portly curb weight, the reduction in fuel consumption is nothing short of remarkable. For comparison, a G550 averages about 13 mpg combined.
