Peugeot has unveiled its latest offering to the Chinese market over the weekend at the Beijing Motor Show: the 2011 Peugeot 408 sedan. The long-wheelbase Peugeot 408 sedan is based on the 308 that offers more room for passengers sitting in the back.
The 408 features a large sunroof and a self-contained trunk to keep the cabin light and spacious. Because of the interior room, and the somewhat popular Peugeot styling in China, the automaker and their Chinese joint-venture partner are expecting annual 408 sales to top 100,000 units.
According to the press release, the Peugeot 408 sedan is designed in China and Europe with three objectives: “Embody the marquee’s modernity, guarantee maximum safety, and offer unrivalled interior space.”
The Peugeot 408 sedan, which will be produced in Wuhan, China, is not to be confused with the Peugeot 508 which is bound for Europe. The latter will replace the Peugeot 407 and 607 beginning 2011.
