Volvo DRIVe S80, V70

Volvo has just announced that they will be adding two new models to its ultra-efficient DRIVe range for the UK market: the DRIVe variants of the S80 sedan and V70 wagon.

The DRIVe variants of the S80 and V70 are both powered by Volvo’s own 1.6 liter turbocharged diesel engine. Even the engine is not the most powerful at 109 horsepower and 177 ft-lb. of torque, it still can provide for a combined 52 mpg US.

There has been a swift pace of development since the launch of our first 119-gramme models in Paris in autumn 2008. Now that we have brought two of the larger models in below the magical 120 g/km limit, few of our competitors can now match us when it comes to offering customers an extensive range of low emission cars,” said Volvo Cars President and CEO Stephen Odell in a statement.

Both models impressively churn out just 119 g/km of C02. According to Volvo, that rating makes the S80 and V70 the first premium executive cars to emit less than 120 g/km C02. That rating also makes the S80 and V70 fall into the Vehicle Excise Duty Band C Category, which means a road tax of just £35 per year.

The DRIVe versions of the S80 and the V70 will also be available in SE, SE Premium, SE Lux and SE Lux Premium trim levels.
